The tree ferns arriveth
So, massive lorry pulls up, containing the tree ferns. They are enormous, and the look on the delivery driver's face when I asked him to help me carry them to the end of the garden was a picture.
Each of them is easily as tall as me, which, given they put on about one foot in height every decade would give them an age of 60+ years. The old men of the garden.
They went straight into the pre-dug holes and now I've given them a good drenching to re-hydrate them it's a matter of time and plenty of finger crossing until the first fronds emerge.
Even now they offer quite an imposing presence in the garden, and give that corner the height I felt it was lacking.
